Members of the Oacoma Town Board approved a cleanup day and convened as a board of equalization when the group met Monday, March 16, in Meeting Room #2 of the community center in Oacoma.
The board opened the floor to public comment pursuant to South Dakota Codified Law
1-25-1. James Harmon was present to give comment on the trap range road. “We made a deal (years before), that if I was to give that land up, that you were going to buy it. After all the paperwork was turned in to Kennebec and came back, you and that great lawyer, Steve Smith, decided ‘screw him; we aren’t going to give him a dime.’ The way I look at it, you guys broke your contract; not doing what you said you were going to do. So now, as far as I’m concerned, it’s null and void; that land belongs to me.”
“First off, I’d say you’re wrong,” Town Board President Gary Dominiack responded. “. . . I, myself, don’t ever remember saying that we’d pay for it.”
