Locals and visitors to central South Dakota experienced a number of power outages over the weekend of the Fourth of July.
NorthWestern Energy Community Relations Manager Tom Glanzer cited issues with two substations, one operated by Western Area Power Association and the other by NorthWestern.
Multiple outages were reported on Saturday, July 4, primarily occurring in the late afternoon. Outages were mainly noted in areas including White Lake, Corsica and Stickney. Glanzer explained these issues were due to a substation managed by Western Area Power Association. The power association serves as a power distributor to NorthWestern, who then disseminates it to customers in the area.
