A remand hearing was held Thursday, Aug. 13, in the west community room of the Brule County Courthouse in Chamberlain to hear testimony regarding a drainage issue.
Deputy State’s Attorney Deach Koch provided background information on the case, noting the Brule County Commissioners, acting as a drainage board, had indicated Surat Farms of Bijou Hills had obstructed a drainageway. The Surats appealed the drainage board’s decision to the circuit court, which affirmed the board’s decision.
“The Surats then intended to go to the Supreme Court but first needed to do some things,” informed the deputy state’s attorney.
