The board of education for Chamberlain School District #7-1 approved a levy request, critical infrastructure worker designation and vehicle fleet bids when the group met Monday, Sept. 28, in the middle/high school library at Chamberlain.
The board entered executive session according to South Dakota Codified Law 1-25-2, “the purpose of discussing the expulsion, suspension, discipline, assignment of or the educational program of a student or the eligibility of a student to participate in interscholastic activities provided by the South Dakota High School Activities Association.”
After deliberation in executive session, the board moved to open session and approved a motion to suspend the student for a violation of the Chamberlain School District’s board policy of JFCJ, “a dangerous weapon in the school.” Suspension was the length of 62 days or until Jan. 4, 2021.
