Watco discusses railroad opportunity with local stakeholders

Representatives from communities along the Dakota Southern Railroad line in central South Dakota gathered alongside rural water and utility representatives at Club Vega in Kimball on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
The company, Watco is proposing the purchase of the rail line from Mitchell to Rapid City. The gathering was an informal meeting with Watco representatives, Jimmy Patterson and Steve Coomes to introduce themselves to the communities in which they would operate and field questions about their operations.
A formal meeting to consider the sale of the line will take place with the South Dakota Department of Transportation on Wednesday, Aug, 19 in the Becker/Hansen Building/Commission Room in Pierre.
