Thompson Enlists In South Dakota National Guard

Daniel Thompson of Fort Thompson was sworn in as the newest member of the South Dakota Army National Guard’s 200th Engineer Company during an enlistment ceremony at the Military Entrance Processing Station in Sioux Falls, Aug. 24. Thompson, a senior at Crow Creek High School, enlisted under a program which provides an enlistment bonus, 50 percent state tuition reduction, federal tuition assistance, GI Bill and GI Bill Kicker. Thompson will attend basic combat training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, followed by advanced individual training at Fort Lee, Virginia, and will be assigned as a wheeled vehicle mechanic at the Chamberlain-based 200th Engineer Company when he returns.
