Mueller receives Army National Guard recognition

Captain Alan Armstrong, left, of the South Dakota Army National Guard recognized SPC Cooper Mueller with the Van Autreve Award and Engineer Soldier Of The Year Award. SPC Mueller represented the 200th Engineer Company in the Best Warrior competition in 2019 and was the unit’s Soldier Of The Year.
Cooper Mueller, a 21-year-old Oacoma native and 2017 Chamberlain High School graduate, was recently awarded the Van Autreve Award from the Army National Guard.
The award recognizes one active duty and one reserve engineer soldier.
Mueller, a member of the 200th Engineer Company, is the first soldier in his company to receive the award.
