Kimball/White Lake Harriers Earn Combined Team Award

Members of the Kimball/White Lake Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams competed at the Class B State Cross Country Meet at Hart Ranch Resort in Rapid City on Saturday, Oct. 24. The two teams combined to earn the Class B Combined Team Champion title. The girls team was named the 2020 Class B State Team Champion while the boys were recognized as Class B Boys State – Sixth Place, edging Platte-Geddes and Ipswich by one point. Team members include, from left, back, Coach Stephanie McCord, Christine Gaulke, Taya Chelmo, Park Sinclair and Porter Miller and front, Josie McCord, Ryann Grussing, Summer Skluzak, Autumn Baker, Sidney McCord, Drew Ekstrum, Dawson Miller, Spencer Hanson and Assistant Coach Chris Heinemann. Individually for the girls, Sidney McCord was 12th with a time of 21:01.19; Taya Chelmo, 20th, 21:21.41; Autumn Baker, 27th, 21:33.03; Christine Gaulke, 31st, 21:42.94 and Summer Skluzak, 72nd, 22:57.14. The Kimball/White Lake girls were marked with 33 points for first place, followed by Aberdeen Christian, second, 39; Ipswich, third, 43; Great Plains Lutheran, fourth, 64; Newell, fifth, 64; Arlington, sixth, 72; Burke, seventh, 73; James Valley Christian, eighth, 78; Potter County, ninth, 83; Platte-Geddes, tenth, 93; Wall, 11th, 97; Colman-Egan, 12th, 110; Lemmon, 13th, 119; Centerville, 14th, 125; Estelline/Hendricks, 15th, 126; Hanson, 16th, 132; De Smet, 17th, 142; Howard, 18th, 143; New Underwood, 19th, 171 and Wolsey-Wessington, 20th, 189. Alyssa Jones, representing Lyman, finished the Class B course in 88th place with a time of 23:29.64 and Caleigh Little of Lower Brule was 97th, 23:45.00. Individually for the Kimball/White Lake boys, Drew Ekstrum cruised to 37th place in a time of 18:58.49; Park Sinclair, 41st, 19:10.04 and Dawson Miller, 45th, 19:20.88. Team-wise, Bison was first at 32; Freeman Academy/Marion, second, 45; Northwestern, third, 46; Newell, fourth, 60; Mitchell Christian, fifth, 68; Kimball/White Lake, sixth, 79; Platte-Geddes, seventh, 80; Ipswich, eighth, 80; Philip, ninth, 86; Estelline/Hendricks, tenth, 87; Faulkton Area, 11th, 101; Elkton-Lake Benton, 12th, 102; Frederick Area, 13th, 104; Dell Rapids St. Mary, 14th, 108; Lower Brule, 15th, 114; Jones County, 16th, 125; Lake Preston, 17th, 142 and White River, 18th, 142. Jerome Grassrope of Lower Brule claimed 33rd at 18:49.33; Tyronne Ziegler of Lower Brule, 57th, 19:35.48; Brian LaRoche, 83rd, 20:14.56; Cory Castaway, 87th, 20:23.17 and Elliot LaRoche, 109th, 20:59.13.
