Jan 29, 2020

The South Dakota Association of Rural Water Systems recently named Kraig Sinclair, right photo, from the Aurora-Brule Rural Water System as the Rural Water System Operations Specialist Of The Year during the organization’s annual Technical Conference in Pierre on Jan. 16. “Sinclair has done an outstanding job for A-B Rural Water System over the past 18 years,” states Aurora-Brule Rural Water System Manager Wade Blasius. “He is a Class II operator and a team leader who is always willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. He’s always the first one there when problems arise – day or night. Sinclair has trained several new operators over the years and takes the time to help get them started off on the right foot. His expansive knowledge of the hydraulics of our system enables him to detect problems quickly. He has also worked hard to minimize water loss on the system and often helps the members of our system find their leaks as well.” Raymond Heath, left photo, was recognized for his 40 years of service to the local rural water system board. Heath was elected to the board of directors in 1979 and has served as secretary of the board for most of those years. “Ray has dedicated a large part of his life representing the farmers and ranchers of his district with his leadership on the board since the original construction of the water system,” states Manager Blasius. “He does an outstanding job of ensuring that the water system provides our membership with good quality water at reasonable rates.” The 2020 South Dakota Rural Water Annual Technical Conference hosted over 500 individuals and provided water and wastewater educational presentations for board members, managers and operations specialists from throughout South Dakota.
