Half her life was dedicated to helping others

For someone to spend 50 years of their life in the same profession is not unusual today; however, it is unusual for someone to work 50 years in the same profession and have it only be one-half of their life.
Madeline Steckelberg will be 101 on Aug. 29.
In 1990, George S. Mickelson, former governor of South Dakota, awarded Steckelberg a certificate for 50 years of service as a registered nurse.
