Chamberlain Gymnastics State Qualifiers

The State “A” Gymnastics Meet was held at Aberdeen Central High School in Aberdeen on Feb. 14-15. The team competition was Friday, Feb. 14, with the individual and all-around events on Saturday, Feb. 15. Seventy-eight gymnasts competed in Class “A” over the two-day meet. The Chamberlain Lady Cubs fell four-tenths short of Wagner/Bon Homme and two points from bringing home a state meet plaque. Deuel was the top team at 144.05; Madison, second, 134.625; Estelline/Hendricks, third, 133.225; Parkston/Ethan/Hanson, fourth, 130.55; Milbank, fifth, 128.125; Hot Springs, sixth, 125.2; Wagner/Bon Homme, seventh, 123.8; Chamberlain, eighth, 123.4 and Vermillion, ninth, 115.775. In the individual competition at state, Ameila Jones scored a personal best of 9.00 to earn eighth on the floor exercise. Allison Hough secured a personal best and 15th place on the floor with an 8.825, seventh place on the beam with an 8.575, 14th place on the bars with an 8.050 and eighth in the all-around with a mark of 34.175.
