COVID-19 Brings Out The Best Of Area Communities
Apr 1, 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the lives of many in central South Dakota communities. With schools, public offices and many businesses closed until further notice, everyday tasks have become increasingly difficult to complete. Despite the challenging times, community members, churches and area organizations are doing what they can to help; from delivering food and supplies to offering words of encouragement. Will Mahnke, left, son, Mason Mahnke and Will’s wife, Amanda Mahnke of Chamberlain put together snack packages for truckers who stopped at the Chamberlain rest area. “My wife saw something on Facebook where people were going to rest areas and taking truckers things like coffee, food or other supplies. (Amanda) thought it would be fun to get a bunch of snack stuff and put it in clear sacks and offer them along with prayers to the truckers since it’s even more difficult for them to get places for their needs. Just a small way to show appreciation and God’s love for being the nation’s circulatory system,” Will said.
