Zeanna May Halverson
December 18, 1936 – September 19, 2020

Funeral services for Zeanna May Halverson, 83, of Kennebec, SD, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, at the American Lutheran Church of Kennebec, SD.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to the funeral services on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, at the American Lutheran Church of Kennebec, SD.
Burial will be at the Kennebec Cemetery of Kennebec, SD.
Zeanna May Halverson died Sept. 19, 2020, at Sanford Care Center of Chamberlain, SD, at the age of 83.
Zeanna May Halverson was born Dec. 18, 1936, at Presho, SD, to Dale and May (Dow) Beale.
She attended grade school in Presho, SD, graduating from Presho High School in 1956.
On June 1, 1956, Zeanna was united in marriage to Lyle R. Halverson.
They made their home south of Kennebec, SD, where they farmed and ranched. When her children were young, she would attend the kids’ activities like rodeo, 4-H, the livestock shows and sporting events.
She was a member of the Kennebec American Lutheran Church, a 4-H leader, a member of the Kennebec Housing Board and the See Your Neighbor Club. She was a founding member of the Red Hats Club in Lyman County of South Dakota. She worked as seasonal greeter for the South Dakota Department of Tourism.
She farmed and ranched for many years until the passing of her husband in February of 1997. It was after that, she moved into Kennebec, SD, and would winter in Mission, Texas, which she did for over 20 years.
She liked fishing, camping and she especially loved dancing.
Her greatest joy in life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Doug Halverson and wife, Kate of Kennebec, SD, Dana Gloe and Monty of Pierre, SD, Sharon Hanson and husband, Lance of Groton, SD, Shelley DeMarais and husband, Bob of Sioux Falls, SD, and Stan Halverson and wife, Heidi of Kennebec, SD; a sister, June Halverson and husband, Harlan of Kennebec, SD; 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle R. Halverson; her parents, Dale and May Beale; three sisters, Fern, Ruth and Elsie and two brothers, Dale Beale, Jr. and Jack Beale.
Hickey Funeral Chapel of Chamberlain, SD, will be in charge of arrangements.
