Funeral services for Robert Dean “Droop” Drapeau, 68, of Fort Thompson, SD, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday,
July 11, 2020, at Lana and Droop’s residence in Fort Thompson, SD.
Wake services were held at 7 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2020, at Lana and Droop’s residence in Fort Thompson, SD.
Burial was at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery of Stephan, SD.
Robert Dean “Droop” Drapeau died July 6, 2020, at Sanford Medical Center of Chamberlain, SD, at the age of 68.
Robert Dean “Droop” Drapeau was born April 8, 1952, at Chamberlain, SD, to Alphonso Drapeau, Sr. and Elizabeth (Libby) Rockwood.
He grew up in Fort Thompson, SD, and attended school in Stephan, SD.
On July 28, 1989, he met and married Lana Rencountre. To this union, two children were born – Justin Dean and Dena Lynn.
Droop was a very kind, caring, gentle person. He had a very unique sense of humor.
Droop enjoyed cooking for his family, having cookouts, fishing and riding around listening to music.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Lana Drapeau of Fort Thompson, SD; a daughter Dena; a stepdaughter, Bobbi Lee Spider and Marissa Spider; a stepson Chris Spider; sons, Dean Bad Moccasin of Minneapolis, MN, and Robert Zephier of Wagner, SD; special grandsons, Anthony Thompson and J’Dean Drapeau; a special granddaughter, Jescinda Dean Hopkins of Enemy Swim, SD, and Katie-Lynn Azure of Fort Thompson, SD; several nieces, nephews and grandchildren; four sisters, Charlotte Rockwood of Fort Thompson, SD, Mildred Ross of Fort Thompson, SD, Eunice (Lori) Drapeau of Fort Thompson, SD, and Shirley Drapeau of Fort Thompson, SD; three brothers, Ronald Drapeau and Kim of Fort Thompson, SD, Frank Drapeau of Fort Thompson, SD, and Woody Drapeau of Fort Thompson, SD, and a special brother, Emery Flute.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alphonso Drapeau, Sr. and Elizabeth Rockwood; sons, Justin, Dwight and Bryce Drapeau and a daughter, Lolita Drapeau.
Hickey Funeral Chapel of Chamberlain, SD, was in charge of arrangements.
