Robert ‘Wayne’ Harmon

Graveside memorial services for Robert “Wayne” Harmon, 73, of Oacoma, SD, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday,
May 30, 2020, at Graceland Cemetery of Oacoma, SD.
Robert “Wayne” Harmon died Monday, May 25, 2020, at his home in Oacoma, SD, of natural causes.
Robert “Wayne” Harmon was born Sept. 2, 1946, the youngest of 11 children to Ruth (Ransford) and Charles Franklin Harmon of Chamberlain, SD.
He served in the Navy from Sept. 11, 1963, to Sept. 1, 1967, aboard the USS Buchnell in Key West, Florida. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal after an honorable discharge.
After returning home, he met Betty Jean Graves and they were united in marriage on Sept. 12, 1969. To this union two sons were born – Richard James (stillborn) and Brian Wayne.
Wayne worked as a machinist for most of his life.
After living in the Black Hills of South Dakota, he retired to his home town of Oacoma, SD.
Grateful for having shared his life are his son, Brian Harmon and wife, Cassandra of Douglas, WY; granddaughter, Brooke Harmon of Colorado; sisters, Irene of Oacoma, SD, and June of Oacoma, SD; brothers, Kenneth Harmon and wife, Marilyn of Lower Brule, SD, Donald Harmon and wife, Liz of Spearfish, SD, and James Harmon of Oacoma, SD, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard James Harmon; his parents, Ruth and Frank Harmon; brothers, Gene Harmon, Glen Harmon, Ralph Harmon and Charles Harmon and a sister, Alice Hutmacher.
Hickey Funeral Chapel of Chamberlain, SD, was in charge of arrangements.
