Funeral services for Raynard Elliot Bad Moccasin, 50, of Fort Thompson, SD, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Fort Thompson, SD.
Wake services were held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020, and Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Fort Thompson, SD.
Burial was at the Lakeview Cemetery of Fort Thompson, SD.
Raynard Elliot Bad Moccasin made his journey to the spirit world on Sept. 8, 2020, from his home, at the age of 50.
Raynard Elliot Bad Moccasin was born April 25, 1970, to Robert “Bobbie” Bad Moccasin and Ethelreda Ross Bad Moccasin.
He attended school in Fort Thompson, SD, Pierre Indian Learning Center of Pierre, SD, and later graduated from Santee.
In 1990, moving back to Fort Thompson, SD he lived with his aunty, Barb Ross, volunteering for the Fort Thompson Police Department and working various jobs.
In 1996, he moved to Rapid City, SD. While in Rapid City, SD, he had a daughter named Rayona Elicia Bad Moccasin.
In 1998, he moved back to Fort Thompson, SD, to help take care of his mother until her passing in 2017.
Raynard enjoyed working as a cook at the Lode Star Casino.
He worked as a day laborer for the Crow Creek C-Store.
He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends visiting, listening to music, playing card games and dominoes.
Grateful for having shared his life are his daughter, Rayona Bad Moccasin of Rapid City, SD; his stepfather, Bernard Bad Moccasin, Sr.; three brothers, Robbie Bad Moccasin of Minneapolis, MN, Glyndon Bad Moccasin of Fort Thompson, SD, and Bernard Bad Moccasin of Fort Thompson, SD; a sister, Renee Bad Moccasin of Minneapolis, MN, and a hunka sister, Margaret Wilson and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Bobbie” Bad Moccasin and Ethelreda Ross Bad Moccasin; a sister, Lisa Owen and a special cousin, Russell Obago.
Hickey Funeral Chapel of Chamberlain, SD, was in charge of arrangements.
