Patrick Allen Jandreau died Oct. 19, 2020, at home in Lower Brule, SD, at the age of 47.
Patrick Allen Jandreau was born Feb. 13, 1973, to Michael B. and Jacquline R. “Jackie” (Langdeau) Jandreau.
He was the fifth of eight children.
Patrick attended Lower Brule Elementary School of Lower Brule, SD, as well as Brule Sioux High of Lower Brule, SD, graduating in 1991.
Patrick participated in track, football and cross country. He loved to run.
When Patrick was in elementary school, he met his lifelong best friend, Misty Smith. They were the original “Forrest and Jenny” – “like peas and carrots!”
Patrick was raised on the family ranch with his parents, siblings and cousins. He was a cowboy from the get-go and until the very end.
Patrick held various jobs throughout his life, including security guard, sale barn and probation officer.
But his real love was the family ranch where he spent the remainder of his life and where he wanted to stay.
He met and married Christine Andrade and to this union, three children were born – Taylor, Gabe and Hadley. He had another son, William Jandreau as well as his baby boy, “Bubba” Rowdy Riley Lawrence Jandreau.
Patrick loved watching westerns, driving the tires off the tractors and going to rodeos.
He was so darned comical, always ready with a laugh.
“I have good friends, not a lot of friends but the friends I got are good” was one of the things he always said and in the end, he reminded us of that.
Patrick had a great love for family and was always there when any family was in need. He was always willing and ready to help and he had a great respect for the “Cowboy Way.”
Each of his siblings have a story or memory of this guy shooting them with his Red Rider BB gun when they were young. And every Christmas he received another one.
Patrick lived a good cowboy life which is how he earned his Lakota name, “Good Cowboy” Pteole Hoksila Waste.
Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Taylor, Gabe, Hadley, William and Rowdy; his siblings, Rhonda, Michael, Amy, Lynn, Jerauld, Jeff and Mary Jo; a very special friend, Jody Traversie and a very special nephew, Alex Yazzie.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Michael B. and Jackie R. Jandreau; his brothers, Kim and Martin; his grandparents, Phillip Banks, Velda Quilt, Leo Jandreau and Dorothy Jones; his aunts, Rita, Robin and Lana; his uncles, Sam, Louie and Scott; his cousins, Juanita, Michelle and Ellsworth and “his partner,” Billy.
