Funeral services for Myrtle Black Lance, 69, of Sioux Falls, SD, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2020, at the Crow Creek Tribal Hall in Fort Thompson, SD.
Wake services were held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2020, at the Crow Creek Tribal Hall in
Fort Thompson, SD.
Burial was at Christ Episcopal Cemetery of Fort Thompson, SD.
Myrtle Black Lance died May 4, 2020, at Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 69.
Myrtle Black Lance was born Nov. 24, 1950, to Elizabeth His Law and Marvin Medicine Crow.
She lived in the Fort Thompson, SD, area where she attended elementary school. She then moved to Chiloca, OK, and there she attended high school.
After high school, she enrolled in the United States Army and served two years in Fort Simms, Colorado.
She was united in marriage to Donald LaRoche and to that union a daughter, Donna was born.
She later married her second husband, Wendell Black Lance, Sr. and to that union, three sons were born – Wendell Jr., Myren and Marvin Black Lance.
She moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where she resided until her death.
She was employed part-time at Pro-Force, Goodwill and held various motel jobs as a housekeeper.
She loved spending time with her family and friends, liked to read and do puzzles.
She loved and was proud of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was loved by all her friends and family.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Donna LaRoche; sons, Wendell Black Lance, Jr., Myren Black Lance and Marvin Black Lance; sisters, Brenda, LaDonna and Diane Ross; brothers, Marvin and LeRoy
Ross, Jr. and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth His Law; her father, Marvin Medicine Crow; a sister, Marvene Ross; brothers, Marlow Medicine Crow, Sr. and Richard His Law and both husbands, Wendell Black Lance, Sr. and Donald LaRoche.
Hickey Funeral Chapel of Chamberlain, SD, was in charge of arrangements.
