Mary A. Wagaman

​Memorial services for MaryA.Wagaman, 73, of Reliance, SD, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2020, at Zion Lutheran Church of Chamberlain, SD.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Hickey Funeral Chapel of Chamberlain, SD, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Mary A. Wagaman died March 5, 2020, at her home in Reliance, SD, after a long battle with cancer.
Mary A. Wagaman was born March 19, 1946, at Presho, SD, to Gilbert and Nellie (Matheny) Abrahamson.
She grew up in Kennebec, SD, graduating as valedictorian of the Class of 1964. After graduation, Mary went to work at the Kennebec Agricultural Stabilization Conservation office, working there until October of 1966 when she married the love of her life, LeRoy Wagaman on Oct. 22, 1966.
In the early years of marriage, Mary did some babysitting, taking care of two special babies. First was Sam, Will and later Lorri (Mertens) Wagner.
In later years, LeRoy and Mary started going to German celebrations around the state, making some lasting friendships along the way.
Three seasons of the year, Mary could usually be found working in the yard.
After LeRoy passed away, Mary spent the winter months doing jigsaw puzzles and reading.
Grateful for having shared her life are a sister, Eva Miller; a brother, Steve Abrahamson; a very special friend, Sonia and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Wagaman; her parents, Nellie and Gilbert Abrahamson; a sister, Violet Elvaker; two brothers, Earl Abrahamson and Lawrence Abrahamson and a special nephew, Dana
Kenobbie.
Hickey Funeral Chapel of Chamberlain, SD, will be in charge of arrangements.
