Funeral services for Marge Lily Gunter, 92, of Chamberlain, SD, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020, at Zion Lutheran Church of Chamberlain, SD.
Visitation began at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2020, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church of Chamberlain, SD.
Burial was at Riverview Cemetery in Chamberlain, SD.

Marge Lily Gunter died Aug. 26, 2020, peacefully with her family beside her at Sanford Medical Center of
Chamberlain, SD, at the age of 92.
Marge Lily Gunter was born Nov. 16, 1927, on the family farm in Nobles County, Minnesota, to Hiram and Minnie (Feeken) Aljets.
She attended school in Luverne, MN, and graduated as valedictorian from Luverne High School of Luverne, MN, in 1945. While in Luverne, MN,
Marge worked at Adams Produce, candling eggs and separating cream where she met the love of her life, Harold L. “Butch” Gunter. They were united in marriage on Nov. 16, 1945.
In 1949, Marge and Butch moved to Chamberlain, SD.
In her younger years, Marge was a member of the local birthday club, pitch club and on a local bowling team.
She was a lifelong member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, always active in the Ladies Aide.
Marge was an avid fisherman up until she could no longer get herself to her favorite fishing spot. She was always along the shoreline doing what she loved most.
Marge also had a special talent for taking pieces of old furniture and restoring them back to life.
Grateful for having shared her life are her three sons, Steve Gunter and wife, Karen of Piedmont, SD, Gary Gunter of Chamberlain, SD, and Dan Gunter and Liz of Corona, CA; a daughter, Vicki Stethem of Chamberlain, SD; 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; a sister, Minnie Axtell and two special sister-in-laws, Audrey Aljets of Brandon, SD, and Etoyle Aljets of Valley Springs, SD.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. “Butch” Gunter, Sr.; a son, Harold L. “Butchie” Gunter, Jr.; a son-in-law, Russ Stethem; parents, Hiram and Minnie Aljets; a grandson, Raymond Russell Gunter; a granddaughter, Jamie Leigh Brown; three brothers, Fritz Aljets, Henry “Hank” Aljets and Raymond Aljets and two sisters, Marie Clark and Darlene Aljets.
Hickey Funeral Chapel of Chamberlain, SD, was in charge of arrangements.
