Private graveside services for Lois Charmaign Aronson, 86, of Chamberlain, SD, will be held at the Norwegian
Lutheran Cemetery at Pukwana, SD.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Lois Charmaign Aronson died May 14, 2020, at her home in Chamberlain, SD.
Lois Charmaign Aronson was born July 21, 1933, at Watertown, SD, to parents, Arthur and Clara (Karterud)
Roisum of Lake Norden, SD.
She received her elementary education at Lake Norden, SD.
She lived and toured the United States with her sister, Donna with the “Valkeryies Troupe” for a time.
Charmaign then met her future husband, Herb Aronson at a roping. They were united in marriage on June 28, 1953, and made their home on the farm at Lake Poinsett in South Dakota where their five children were born.
In 1989, Herb and Charmaign moved to Chamberlain, SD, where she worked at Dakota Milestones formerly the Chamberlain Adjustment Training Center for over 20 years. She loved all her clients and considered them
family.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Chamberlain, SD, and especially looked forward to the monthly meetings of “Ruth’s Circle.”
She was active in the church and would also be the fill-in organist when needed.
Charmaign always worked alongside her husband, Herb on the farm, kept up her flowers and vegetable garden. She enjoyed canning, baking, cooking and sewing.
Charmaign was a farm wife, mother, cook and gardener.
She enjoyed neighborhood pinochle games, square dancing, riding horse and singing or yodeling!
The greatest joy in her life was her family. She very much loved attending the activities of her grandchildren, not missing one.
In July of 2019, she was diagnosed with Mesothelioma and fought a good and tough battle until the end.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Herb Aronson of Chamberlain, SD; children, Dawn Rinehart and husband, Randy of Highmore, SD, Randy Aronson of Chickamauga, Georgia, Arlyn Aronson and
wife, Sandy of Houghton, MI, Marla Huse and husband, Van of Onida, SD, and Lynn Peterson and husband, Steve of Chamberlain, SD; grandchildren, Jamie and spouse, Katie and spouse, Buck, Sammie and spouse, Jacob, Tate and spouse, Geoffrey, Zach, Ty, Jonathan, Kara, Hayes, Evan and Levi; nine great grandchildren, an “adopted” granddaughter, Stella and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Roisum; her father, Arthur Roisum; infant brothers; two sisters, Donna Still and Connie Hendricks; a grandson, Zane; grand-nephews, Matthew and Joe and grand-
niece, Sammie Jo.
Hickey Funeral Chapel of Chamberlain, SD, will be in charge of arrangements.
