Memorial services for June Anna McGuire, 85, of Oacoma, SD, will be at a date to be determined later.
June Anna McGuire died Oct. 17, 2020, at Sanford University of South Dakota Medical Center of Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 85.
June Anna McGuire was born Feb. 21, 1935, to Charles Franklin and Ruth (Ransford) Harmon.
She was raised in the Oacoma/American Island area of South Dakota with her ten siblings.
She attended grade school and middle school in Oacoma, SD.
She was united in marriage to Dale Dwight Schooler, Sr. in 1952. They made their home in Artesian, SD, where two children joined the family.
In 1957, they moved to California, making their home in Anaheim and adding three more children to the family. During their time in California, she received her high school diploma from Garden Grove High School.
Around 1968 and after the children began school, June started working part-time at the Southern Plastic Mold and later went full-time, working for the company for over 30 years.
June was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary in Anaheim, CA, and held all positions, including president.
In 1996, June was united in marriage to Lawrence William “Larry” McGuire. In 2000, they moved to Casper, WY, where they made their home until 2012 when they moved to Oacoma, SD.
June traveled to China with friends in the 1990s.
She loved watching baseball and going to the children and grandchildren’s sporting events.
She enjoyed all sorts of crafts and loved playing guitar.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was notoriously famous for her bread and cinnamon rolls.
She loved her fur babies (Sofie and Peanut) and also her rooster, Sam who would greet her each morning for a treat.
Grateful for having shared her life are her furry babies, Sofie and Peanut; her children, Dale Dwight Schooler, Jr. and wife, Sherry, James F. Schooler and his animal family, Ruth Ann Dunivin and husband, William “Bill,” Susan N. Murphy and Robin S. and Michael R. Schooler and wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Marla Weiske and husband, Brian, Bradley T. Alford, Stephen Alford and wife, Jennifer, Jesse L. Dunivin, Christopher L. Murphy, Jennifer R. Murphy and Richie Bortoluzzi, Michael “MJ” Schooler, Clinton
Schooler and Bret Schooler; great grandchildren, Aryn, Carter, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Aiyana, Natasha, Kelsi, Eric, Austin, Jason and Kyle; a great great grandson, Hunter; a sister, Irene Bunnell; brothers, Donald Harmon and wife, Liz and James Harmon and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dale Dwight Schooler, Sr.; her second husband, Larry William McGuire; her parents, Ruth and Frank Harmon; great grandchildren, Ava Angel and Eden Isabell Alford; brothers, Gene Harmon, Kenny Harmon, Glen Harmon, Charles Harmon, Ralph Harmon and Wayne Harmon and a sister, Alice Hutmacher.
Hickey Funeral Chapel of Chamberlain, SD, will be in charge of arrangements.
