Graveside services for Jessie Mae Fire Cloud-Johnson, 60, of Lower Brule, SD, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2020, at the Holy Comforter Episcopal Cemetery of Lower Brule, SD.
Burial will be at the Holy Comforter Episcopal Cemetery of Lower Brule, SD, at a later date.
Jessie Mae Fire Cloud-Johnson began her journey on June 11, 2020, at her home in Lower Brule, SD, with family by her side.
Jessie Mae Fire Cloud-Johnson was born Sept. 12, 1959, at Chamberlain, SD, to William and Bertha (Eagle Thunder) Fire Cloud.
She joined sisters, Ruth, Wilma, Willa and Ruby.
Jessie attended grade school in Lower Brule, SD, and high school at Crow Creek High School of Stephan, SD. After high school, Jessie attended United Tribes Technical Community College in Bismarck, ND, and later
Lower Brule Community College of Lower Brule, SD, and received an associates of arts in human services.
Jessie was united in marriage to Richard (Dick) Johnson.
Jessie has one son, Coy Fire Cloud; one daughter, Ruthann Johnson and adopted children, Nevaeh Wilson and Cray Blue Bird. Jessie also took Buddy Jandreau and Miley Estes under her care and treated both as her own.
Jessie loved her children and grandchildren.
Jessie made her home in Lower Brule, SD, and worked at various jobs.
She worked many years at Lower Brule Head Start of Lower Brule, SD.
She enjoyed working with children. Jessie retired due to health reasons.
Jessie loved all holidays and went out of her way to celebrate these events and included all of her family.
She went out of her way to help family and friends.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Richard Johnson; children, Coy Fire Cloud; Ruthann Johnson, Nevaeh Wilson, Cray Blue Bird, Buddy Jandreau and Miley Estes; sisters, Wilma M. Wilson and
Cyrhina Fire Cloud; an aunt, Irene Skunk and many nieces, nephews, grands and great grands.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bertha Fire Cloud; sisters, Ruth Flute and Ruby Jandreau and a grandchild.
Hickey Funeral Chapel of Chamberlain, SD, was in charge of arrangements.
