Funeral services for Hattie Rose Thigh, 69, of Fort Thompson, SD, were held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2020, at the First Baptist Church of Fort Thompson, SD.
Wake services were held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2020, and Thursday, July 9, 2020, at the First Baptist Church of Fort Thompson, SD.
Burial was at Christ Episcopal Cemetery of Fort Thompson, SD.
Hattie Rose Thigh died July 4, 2020, at her home in Fort Thompson, SD, at the age of 69.
Hattie Rose Thigh was born Sept. 20, 1950, at Fort Thompson, SD, to Melda (Red Water) and Floyd Comes Flying, Sr. She was one of nine children from the Kin-Ya-Ku family.
She attended elementary school and graduated from Gann Valley High School of Gann Valley, SD.
Hattie met and married Orville and to this union, three children were born – Lynette Lynn, Melanie May and Orville Jr. Hattie worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in the Fort Thompson, SD, and Sisseton, SD, offices. She transferred back to her home agency and that is where she met Wally Thigh. They were married and to this union, they adopted Allery Aaron.
Hattie and Wally loved all their grandchildren and great grandchildren in which she was raising two grandchildren and three great grandchildren at the time of her passing.
All the kids thought Grandpa Wally and Grandma Hattie were golden!
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Wally Thigh of Fort Thompson; three children, Lynette and Royce, Orville, Jr. and Rebecca and Allery and Summerdawn; a sister, Phyllis Comes Flying; an adopted sister, Eleanor Thunder; a very special cousin, Sorena (Patty) Ree and several other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd, Sr. and Melda Comes Flying and a daughter, Melanie May Walking Eagle.
Hickey Funeral Chapel of Chamberlain, SD, was in charge of arrangements.
