Funeral services for Gerald Wayne Nepodal, 61, of Platte, SD, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, at Olive Presbyterian Church of Platte, SD.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2020, at Olive Presbyterian Church of Platte, SD, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Both services were live-streamed.
A committal service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, at Eagle Presbyterian Cemetery of rural Kimball, SD.
Gerald Wayne Nepodal died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020, at Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center of Sioux Falls, SD.
Gerald Wayne Nepodal was born Oct. 3, 1958, at Platte, SD, to Lyle and Eileen (Burkine) Nepodal.
He graduated from Platte High School of Platte, SD, in 1976 and went on to a lifelong career in farming and ranching.
On June 17, 1989, Gerald was united in marriage to Christine Gallagher in Des Moines, Iowa.
Gerald was a member of Olive Presbyterian Church, was the Brule-Buffalo County conservation supervisor and served on the Pleasant Grove Township Board and Eagle Presbyterian Cemetery Board.
He enjoyed bowling, golf, boating, driving the Camaro and time spent with his family.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of over 31 years, Christine Nepodal of Platte, SD; three children, Joseph Nepodal and wife, Chelsea of Charles City, Iowa, Ryan Nepodal of Sioux Falls, SD, and Jessica Nepodal of Sioux Falls, SD; two grandchildren, Rhett Lyle Nepodal and Adah Jude
Nepodal; his parents, Lyle and Eileen Nepodal of Platte, SD; a brother, Lyle Dean Nepodal and wife, Dee of Platte, SD; three sisters, Wanda (Smith) Clement and husband, Roger of Watertown, SD, Karen Turnis and husband, Herman of Platte, SD, and Lisa Jaton and husband, Jim of Sioux Falls, SD; his mother-in-law, Barbara Gallagher of Des Moines, Iowa; three brothers-in-law, Dennis Gallagher and wife, Elizabeth of Huntsville, Alabama, Stephen Gallagher of Huntsville, Alabama, and Robert Gallagher and wife,
Dianne of Frankfort, Illinois, and several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Olive Nepodal and Fred and Frances Burkine; his father-in-law, Robert Gallagher and a brother-in-law, Patrick Smith.
Mount Funeral Home of Platte, SD, was in charge of arrangements.
