​Funeral services for Edna Lorraine Thomas, 97, of Kimball, SD, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2019, at Kimball Protestant Parish of Kimball, SD, with Pastor Derek Runge officiating.
Visitation was held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019, at Kimball Protestant Parish of Kimball, SD, with a prayer service at 6 p.m.
A committal service followed the funeral service at the Kimball Community Cemetery of Kimball, SD.
Edna Lorraine Thomas died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at Avera Sister James Care Center of Yankton, SD.
Edna Lorraine Thomas was born April 25, 1922, at White Lake, SD, to Richard and Lula Belle (Harrison) Scott.
She grew up in White Lake, SD, and graduated from Ravinia High School of Ravinia, SD.
On July 21, 1941, Edna was united in marriage to John Thomas.
Edna was baptized in 1956 at the Methodist church and became a member in 1984. She was an active member of the Shalom Ladies Group and helped to tie quilts for the church outreach.
Edna loved to garden and was always canning to share with the family.
She was a wonderful cook and her pies, fudge and cookies were the greatest.
Edna enjoyed reading, polka music and dancing.
Grateful for having shared her life are her three sons, Richard Thomas and wife, Vickie of Gregory, SD, Dallas Thomas and wife, Lois of Tabor, SD, and Kenneth Thomas and wife,Margaret of Pukwana, SD; eight grand-
children, 23 great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Hossle of Salem, SD, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas on Oct. 12, 1997; a son, Darold Thomas; three grandchildren, Travis Thomas, Chad Thomas and David Thomas; her parents, Richard and Lula Belle Scott and 11 siblings.
Mount Funeral Home of Kimball, SD, was in charge of arrangements.
