Daniel John 'Goose' Goos
April 16, 1953 - May 2, 2020
Daniel John “Goose” Goos, 67, of Fairfield, MT, died in the early morning of May 2, 2020, at Peace Hospice of Great Falls, MT, following complications from a massive stroke.
Daniel John “Goose” Goos was born April 16, 1953, at Chamberlain, SD, to Albert and Mairleen (Soulek) Goos.
He moved up to Fort Shaw, MT, in the 1970s, with his then wife, Marilyn, and their daughter Becky.
After he and Marilyn divorced, Dan met and married Linda Alfson. They welcomed daughters, Tia and Sammi. In the early 1990s, Dan and Linda divorced.
In 2003, Dan met the love of his life, his sweetie, Dorothy Curnow. Together they both received an extended family. Dan always would find a way to help them. He loved doing his famous fish fries or smoking something
in his homemade smoker. Family and friends were so important to him. Unfortunately, in 2017, Dan lost his sweetie and seemed to have lost a part of himself as well. He still smiled, hunted and fished but he missed her so much.
Dan started working for Greenfield Oil in Fort Shaw, MT. He and his family moved up to the Fairfield Bench in 1983, where he started working for the Cenex in Fairfield, MT. He busted tires for many years, then started
delivering fuel for many surrounding counties, until his back got so bad, he could no longer work. He was always the “Goose” or the Fuel Man. Any time someone would yell “Goose,” he would honk. He met and made many friends during his life, always had a smile on his face, would like to play pranks on people, then chuckle about it. If you needed help with something, he would tinker with it until he could get it working again.
He always loved to hunt and fish. Not one person who went fishing with him could understand how he could always catch the fish, while they would sometimes fail. He loved taking his girls out hunting and in the recent years, was a proud papa when his granddaughters were able to start hunting as well. He bragged about his girls, liked to share pictures and talk about all the success stories to all of his friends and family.
Many, many hearts were touched by Dan. He was truly a one of a kind soul. We lost a great, gentle man, while heaven gained another angel. We know he is back with his family and sweetie, drinking coffee, fishing and
telling another story.
Grateful for having shared his life are his daughters, Rebecca Arnold and husband, Tony, Tia Naylor and husband, Ken and Samantha Goos; grandchildren, T’Ly Taylor, Kiki Taylor, TJ Arnold and Tynikki Arnold; stepchildren, Rachel Martinez and husband, Blake, Shannon King and husband, Daylen and their families; brothers, Leroy Goos and wife, Janet, Pete Goos and wife, Annie and Pat Goos and wife, Diana; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, ex-wife, Linda Alfson; ex-mother-in-law, Ida Alfson; special friends, Brian, Kevin and Lee and his two pups, Teddie and Moozie.
