Funeral services for Dallas Edward Brost, 85, of Presho, SD, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at the United Methodist Church of Presho, SD.
Visitation began at noon on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at the United Methodist Church of Presho, SD.
Burial was at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at the Murdo Cemetery at Murdo, SD.
Dallas Edward Brost died Friday, Feb. 14, 2020.
Dallas Edward Brost was born May 17, 1934, at Alliance, NE, to Adolph and Clare Brost.
His first home was on a ranch near Wanblee, SD.
Dallas began his education at a country school in Jones County of South Dakota. He later went to school in Murdo, SD, and then Alliance, NE, graduating from Alliance High School of Alliance, NE, in 1952.
After a brief enrollment at Chadron State College of Chadron, NE, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served as a Machinist Mate aboard a supply ship during the Korean War.
After being discharged from the military, Dallas returned to Murdo, SD, where he met his future wife, Judith Iverson. The couple was married on Aug. 27, 1959. They have three children – Bryan, Erin and Kristin.
Dallas earned his law degree from the University of South Dakota of Vermillion, SD, in 1964. He worked as an attorney in Buffalo, SD, before returning to Murdo, SD, where he established a private practice and served as
Jones County state’s attorney. In 1970, he joined his cousin, Frank Brost at the Brost Law Office in Presho, SD. In addition to his work in private practices, Dallas served as Lyman County state’s attorney for nearly 30 years and worked as a tribal judge for the Rosebud Sioux Tribe.
In his free time, Dallas enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding and spending time with friends and family.
He was a member of Post 89 of the American Legion, the South Dakota Bar Association and the West River Buckaroos.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Judy Brost of Presho, SD; his children, Bryan Brost and wife, Jamie of Sioux Falls, SD, Erin Heupel and husband, Mark of Sioux Falls, SD, and Kristin Brost and Hadly Eisenbeisz of Pierre, SD; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren; brothers, David Brost and wife, Linda and Bob Brost and wife, Suzanne; sisters, Faye Bartlett and husband, Merle, Ellen Nix and husband, Paul and Lynn Miles and husband, John and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Clare Brost and a brother, Dolph Brost and wife, Forestine.
Isburg Funeral Chapel of Presho, SD, was in charge of arrangements.
