​Due to current health concerns, private services for Dale Joseph McAdaragh, 84, of Wagner, SD, were held Saturday, March 28, 2020, at Peters Funeral Home of Wagner, SD.
Interment was at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery of Platte, SD.
Dale Joseph McAdaragh died Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at the age of 84 at Community Memorial Hospital of Wagner, SD.
Dale Joseph McAdaragh was born Oct. 15, 1935, at Huron, SD, to Harry and Inez (Coleman) McAdaragh.
He attended high school in DeSmet, SD. He attended Stewart’s School of Hairstyling.
He married Geralene (Jeri) King on April 7, 1958, in Platte, SD.
They opened his first shop in Sioux Falls, SD, called Lady Lavender. He later moved to Chamberlain, SD, where he continued his hairstyling business. Together they had five children. The family eventually moved to Parker, SD, where Dale managed a grocery store. Dale’s last and final move was to Wagner, SD, where he invested in and managed Wagner Food Center. He retired in 1998.
Dale was a multi-talented man. He was a gifted meat cutter, hair stylist, carpenter and business manager.
He was a perfectionist and strived to do his best at whatever he did. He was genuine and true to his word.
Dale loved to golf with his friends and family. Health issues halted the golf games but he stayed hopeful for the chance to play again.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 61 years, Jeri McAdaragh of Wagner, SD; five children, Debbie Swanson and husband, Barry of Chamberlain, SD, Terry McAdaragh and wife, Michelle of South
Hadley, MA, Rhonda Stanley and husband, Troy of Bagley, Iowa, Scott McAdaragh of Wagner, SD, and Jeff McAdaragh and special friend, Heidi of Tripp, SD; 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Inez McAdaragh; a brother, Lester McAdaragh and three sisters, Maxine Fischer, Dorothy Smith and LornaJean Johnson.
Peters Funeral Home of Wagner, SD, was in charge of arrangements.
