Funeral services for Carole Anne Potter, 82, of Chamberlain, SD, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020, at St. James Catholic Church of Chamberlain, SD.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020, with a scripture service at 7 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church of Chamberlain, SD.
Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Chamberlain, SD.
Carole Anne Potter died Oct. 2, 2020, at Sanford Long-Term Care Center of Chamberlain, SD. Her last years of life were spent there and we have such comfort knowing the true love and compassion the staff gave her. It will be in our hearts forever.
Carole Anne Potter was born Aug. 19, 1938, at Sturgis, SD, to Lloyd and Marguerite (Malloy) Dare.
She attended St. Martin’s Catholic School in Sturgis, SD, until moving to Chamberlain, SD, in 1947. She graduated from Chamberlain High School of Chamberlain, SD, with the Class of 1956. She attended Mount Marty College in Yankton, SD, and Creighton University in Nebraska.
Carole returned to Chamberlain, SD, to marry Rollin Potter in 1959. To this union, they raised three daughters – Kamala, Kelli and Kristi.
Over the years, she and her family lived in Pukwana, SD, Reliance, SD, and finally back to Chamberlain, SD.
Working different jobs over time, her longest career was a daycare in her home where she cared for hundreds of kids over the years. She cherished the children and took great pride in decorating her home for all holidays and seasons, much to their joy. She dedicated over 40 years of her life to helping raise so many kids with her famous goulash and octopus cut hot dogs.
Carole loved life to the fullest and enjoyed celebrating her Irish heritage.
She had a wonderful sense of humor, quick wit and made those around her feel so very loved.
Grateful for having shared her life are her three daughters, Kamala Potter of Pittsburgh, PA, Kelli Potter and Dave Hoogendoorn of Chamberlain, SD, and Kristi Potter of Chamberlain, SD, and her grandchildren, Noah Sargent of Pittsburgh, PA, and Emelia Sargent of Pittsburgh, PA.
Hickey Funeral Chapel of Chamberlain, SD, will be in charge of arrangements.
