Funeral services for Bonna Faye Casey, 95, of Chamberlain, SD, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2020, at St. James Catholic Church of Chamberlain, SD.
A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2020, at St. James Catholic Church of Chamberlain, SD.
Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Chamberlain, SD.
Due to COVID-19 precautions, a reminder that social distancing is to be practiced at the church.\
Bonna Faye Casey died July 24, 2020, at Brookdale Assisted Living of Fort Collins, CO, with her daughter by her side.
Bonna Faye Casey was born March 13, 1925, at Chamberlain, SD, to Henry G. and Mable Victoria Gripp Petersen.
At an early age, she lived in Gann Valley, SD, and Murdo, SD, until the family moved back to Chamberlain, SD, where she graduated from Chamberlain High School. She then moved to Seattle, WA, to work for Boeing
until her mother passed away at an early age. Bonna returned to Chamberlain, SD, to care for her father. It was during that time when the service men returned home from World War II that she met the love of her life,
Mark V. Casey and they were united in marriage on Nov. 6, 1946, in Chamberlain, SD.
Mark and Bonna were second generation owners of Casey Drug and Jewelry Company for many years and upon retirement, sold the business to nephew, Terry Casey and his wife, Sharon.
Bonna was involved in many clubs and organizations in Chamberlain, SD, including Travelers Club, St. James Altar Society and South Dakota Historical Society but her biggest love was her bridge clubs.
Hosting family holidays and gatherings and playing bridge with her many friends was definitely a highlight in her life.
She will be missed by her family and the many people who were lucky enough to have known her.
Her wonderful sense of humor will keep everyone in fun Bonna stories for years to come.
Grateful for having shared her life are a daughter, Mary Margaret; a son-in-law, Michael A. Davis; a son, Dan W. Casey; a granddaughter, Brenna Casey; many loving nieces and nephews and their families and family friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark V. Casey; a grandson, Mark A. Casey; her parents, Henry G. Petersen and Mable Victoria Gripp Petersen and a brother and sister-in-law, Donald G. Petersen and Rosie
Marie Deiss Petersen.
