Funeral services for Beverly Marcella Skunk, 55, of Lower Brule SD, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2020, at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD.
Wake services were held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2020, and Friday, July 24, 2020, at the Lower Brule Community Center of Lower Brule, SD.
Burial was at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery of Lower Brule, SD.
Beverly Marcella Skunk died July 19, 2020, at Sanford University of South Dakota Medical Center of Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 55.
Beverly Marcella Skunk was born May 6, 1965, to Joseph and Irene (Eagle Thunder) Skunk.
She attended grade school and high school in Lower Brule, SD. She acquired her GED diploma in May of 1983. She attended the Lower Brule Community College of Lower Brule, SD, studying early childhood education.
She worked various jobs including the Baby Face Program and Lower Brule Day Care of Lower Brule, SD.
Bev was such a smart, caring, creative and beautiful person.
She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
She was known for taking care of people and helped out anyone who needed it.
She was known as auntie to many.
Grateful for having shared her life are her mother, Irene Skunk of Lower Brule, SD; a daughter, Lydia Sazue and Shane of Lower Brule, SD; sons, Derek Skunk of Lower Brule, SD, Julius Skunk, Sr. of Lower Brule, SD,
Joseph Skunk and Alexis of Detroit, MI, and Jarvis P. Skunk of Lower Brule, SD; her grandchildren, Josette Pretty Sounding Flute, Amiel Pretty Sounding Flute, Jr., Taylee Skunk, Josephine Sazue, Julius Skunk, Jr., William Sazue and Wakinyan Sazue; her sisters, Josephine Skunk of Lower Brule, SD, Lucille Skunk-Marshall and Tim of Lower Brule, SD, Ella Skunk-Drapeau and Woody of Fort Thompson, SD, and Fedelia Skunk of Lower Brule, SD; her brothers, William Johnson of Fort Thompson, SD, and Jarvis K. Skunk of Lower Brule, SD, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph P. Skunk; her brothers, Cleveland C. Skunk, Joseph W. Skunk and Jolon Skunk and her sisters, Susan Skunk and Shannon Skunk.
Hickey Funeral Chapel of Chamberlain, SD, was in charge of arrangements.
