​Funeral services for Agnes Elaine Ekstrum, 82, of Kimball, SD, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Kimball Protestant Parish of Kimball, SD, with Pastor Derek Runge officiating.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at the Kimball Protestant Parish of Kimball, SD, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
A committal service was held at the Kimball Community Cemetery of Kimball, SD.
Agnes Elaine Ekstrum died Saturday, March 7, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Center of Sioux Falls, SD.
Agnes Elaine Ekstrum was born Sept. 2, 1937, on a farm near Alpena, SD, to Alfred and Clara (Feistner) Arhart.
She attended rural school and graduated high school from Lane, SD. She went on to receive her two-year elementary degree from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, and taught school in Clark, SD, and Chamberlain, SD.
On Aug. 12, 1962, she married Richard Ekstrum of Kimball, SD. They were blessed with two daughters, Lori and Marcee. They lived on the farm south of Kimball, SD, for over 50 years.
Agnes was involved with the Brule County Porkettes and CowBelles.
She taught Sunday school, confirmation and Wednesday Release Time classes at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Kimball, SD. Being a member of the church women’s circle was fulfilling for her.
Agnes loved her Golden Retriever dogs, collected books and angels and enjoyed baking. She was a member of the Angels Collectors Club.
Through many years with Farm Bureau, Agnes and Richard traveled extensively and made many friends.
Grateful for having shared her life are her daughters, Lori Quimby and husband, Kevin of Sioux Falls, SD, and Marcee Ekstrum of Sioux Falls, SD; a sister, Diane Thompson and husband, Harlan of Emerson, NE; a sis-
ter-in-law, Phyllis Arhart of Sioux Falls, SD; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Duane and Sheryn Ekstrum of Kimball, SD; a sister-in-law, Karlene Morris of Pasadena, CA; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and
Nancy Ekstrum of Philip, SD; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Jill Ekstrum of Kimball, SD, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Ekstrum on Sept. 11, 2015; her parents, Alfred and Clara Arhart; her stepfather, Leonard Sheffield; a sister, Alice Olson and husband, Gene; two brothers, LeRoy
Arhart and LaVerne Arhart and wife, Judy; a brother-in-law, Donald Ekstrum; a sister-in-law, Jane Ekstrum and a brother-in-law, Robert Morris.
Mount Funeral Home of Kimball, SD, was in charge of arrangements.
