Jane Denise Cameron died at home in Chamberlain, SD, on March 9, 2020, after a long and valiant battle with breast cancer.
She was surrounded by her two surviving children, Craig and Denise, other friends and loved ones.
Jane Denise Cameron was born July 30, 1947, at Faulkton, SD, to William
Cameron and Macel (Eggleston) Cameron.
She was reared in Faulkton, SD, until she married at age 18.
After her husband (Gary Holler) returned from the Vietnam War, she relocated with him to his family’s dairy farm near Pierpont, SD, where Jane
had her first child, Dan and eagerly embraced being a farm wife.
A couple of years later, Jane and her growing family relocated to Faulkton, SD, where Gary worked in the Cameron’s Super Valu grocery store
and Jane had her second child, Craig. A few years after that, they relocated
to Chamberlain, SD, where Jane and Gary operated their own grocery store.
It was in Chamberlain, SD, where Jane had her third child, Denise.
After the grocery store, Jane went on to work numerous jobs in Chamberlain, SD, and Oacoma, SD, foremost for many decades with the Brule
County Sheriff’s Office.
Jane’s struggle with breast cancer began when she was in her 40s. At that
time, she underwent every treatment available and the cancer responded by
going into remission for almost 22 years! Alas, the cancer returned five
years ago. With grace and determination, Jane again resisted it by undergoing every treatment available.
Jane had many passions in life, with one of them being music. She excelled at piano at an early age and went on to learn church organ. For many
decades, she played for services at the United Church of Christ.
Jane also made many, many trips around the country to enjoy concerts
and musicals.
She also loved ocean cruises, taking many with her son, Craig and others.
Jane was extremely blessed when about three years ago, Denise, Jane’s
daughter, moved back home with her young family to help provide care.
Jane absolutely adored having so many of her loved ones close by and especially her beloved granddaughter, Jazzlyn!
