The building and grounds report covered a possible library project with the City of Kimball and was outlined during a meeting of the board of education for Kimball School District #7-2 on Wednesday, Feb. 12, in Room 119, the science classroom at the school in Kimball.
Under student achievement, Industrial Tech Instructor Dale Taylor informed the board of activities within his classroom. The junior and senior students started working with welding and using the plasma cutter. They have now moved to computer drafting.

The freshmen class designed Lego-like items, which are drawn in 3-D and printed. Class attendees also made rockets and will attempt to launch them at a later date.

“When we decided to switch from building a house every year to every other year, we introduced an aviation appreciation administration class,” began Instructor Taylor. “Thank you to the administration and school board for letting me try it. Since I have been doing this, I have had other schools call me about our program. We start with the freshmen and learn the principles of flight.
The students just finished flying through instruments (a simulator) from Brookings to Marshall, MN, to Grand Falls, to Minneapolis.
They learn about GPS coordinates. Two years ago, we went to Mitchell and every kid went up in a plane and was able to fly with an instructor. Aviation is offered every other year. One time we made a wing and put it on a remote control airplane and then flew it.”
